HISTORY
The history of Fair Trade Original has it’s origin in 1959, when S.O.S. (a committee to support underdeveloped regions) was founded.
Prior to the foundation of the Committee a successful fundraise was held, to send milk powder to underfed children at Sicily. In 1967 the organization would import the first product – no aid but trade – being a wooden statue from Haiti. Followed in 1973 by the first fair trade produced coffee being sold on Dutch ground. The coffee, bought in Guatemala, is the first of a growing range of products the organization would import.
Through the years the products imported by Fair Trade Original found their way to supermarkets, world shops and so the end consumer. In 2013 FairForward would continue on it’s own with a collection of Gifts & Living products only.
